Borrow & renew

Borrow items

You can borrow up to 15 items.

Loan period

The loan period is 3 weeks.

Renew

You can extend the loan period twice, by 3 weeks each time. This means you can borrow an item for a total of 9 weeks.

Renew your items preferably through the website (via ‘My Library’).  It is also possible to renew by phone (02 245 32 90), e-mail (bibsophia@1030.be) and at the front desk.

Return

During opening hours, return the items by placing them in the return box in the library.

Outside of opening hours, you can use the green return box located next to the entrance.  The box is emptied on every opening day of the library.  The return date is the day the librarian receives the items.

If you provide your e-mail address when you register, you will receive an automatic reminder e-mail a few days before the loan period expires. You obviously return the items on time, even if you did not receive an e-mail.

Overdue

If you do not return the items on time, you will receive a reminder to return them. First, you will receive a reminder by e-mail (8 and 22 days after the due date) and then by letter (30 days after the due date).

You will be charged € 0,5 per item per day.

If you have not provided an e-mail address, you will receive a letter.

Loss or damage

Take good care of the borrowed items, inside and outside of the library.  Are any items you want to borrow damaged?  Report it immediately to the library staff.  If you do not report it, you could be held liable.

You are responsible for the borrowed items.  In case of loss, total or partial damage or theft, the purchase price of the item will be charged.
